I know it's hard to frog, but so many times I have seen the adage that life is too short to knit something you don't like or doesn't fit. Hope all is going well with the move. We are two weeks and counting!
I first learned how to knit from my mom who cast on and bound off for me. I promptly forgot about knitting and didn't pick sticks up again until 4 years ago. A good friend had just learned to knit and was taking a trip to the yarn store. Maybe it's because I was born in the year of the sheep but for some reason that yarn store called to me...Imagiknit. My Mecca. I didn't know what to do but I knew I had to have that purple Manos.
My friend showed me the basics and I hadn't knit two stitches when the motion felt familiar. Somehow my hands remembered and I was off! I have to say that I haven't looked back since.
